Field Guidelines
Explore responsibly. Observe respectfully. Protect the places and wildlife we discover together.
1. Safety & Preparation
Plan ahead and be prepared for the outdoors.
Before each expedition, check weather conditions, understand the terrain, and prepare appropriate clothing, footwear, water, and personal essentials. Participants are responsible for their own preparation and should follow safety guidance provided by the expedition team.
2. Ethical Observation
Respect wildlife and observe without disturbance.
We follow responsible birding principles: no approaching too closely, no chasing wildlife, no disturbing nesting areas, and no actions that may alter natural behaviors. Great observations begin with patience and respect.
3. Leave No Trace
Protect nature as you explore.
Help preserve natural habitats by staying on designated paths, minimizing environmental impact, and taking all personal belongings and waste with you. Every small action helps protect the ecosystems we enjoy.
4. Respect the Community
Share the experience with kindness and curiosity.
Our expeditions welcome birders of all experience levels. Respect fellow participants, local communities, guides, and the environment. Share knowledge, support others, and enjoy the journey together.
5. Responsible Use of Optics
Use your equipment to observe, not disturb.
Binoculars and spotting scopes allow us to appreciate wildlife from a safe distance. Avoid using optics to approach or pressure animals, and handle equipment responsibly to protect both wildlife and the places we explore.
6. Weather & Field Conditions
Nature is unpredictable. Stay flexible and prepared.
Outdoor conditions can change quickly. Follow expedition updates, prepare for changing weather and terrain, and make informed decisions during the journey to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
7. Photography & Documentation
Capture memories while respecting wildlife.
Photography is encouraged when it does not disturb animals or habitats. Avoid using flash, excessive movement, or techniques that may cause stress to wildlife.
Our Commitment
At Bosma Nature, we believe exploration comes with responsibility.
Every observation is an opportunity to better understand and protect the natural world. Together, we can enjoy meaningful outdoor experiences while preserving the beauty of nature for future generations.
