Fall Migration at Coyote Hills: A Bilingual Birding Field Trip in Fremont

Discover Fall Migration

Join us for a bilingual birding adventure at Coyote Hills Regional Park, one of the Bay Area’s most diverse wetland and grassland habitats.

Co-hosted by Golden Gate Bird Alliance and Cedar Nature Society, this field trip brings English- and Mandarin-speaking birders together to explore the seasonal movements of birds across the Bay Area. Cantonese support will also be available from select guides.

As fall migration begins, we’ll explore wetlands, grasslands, and open habitats in search of a variety of resident and migrating birds.

What We’ll Look For

Keep your binoculars ready for migrating ducks and shorebirds, including:

    • Northern Pintails
    • Cinnamon Teals
    • Greater Yellowlegs
    • Northern Harriers
    • White-tailed Kites
    • Wintering sparrows
    • Western Meadowlarks
    • Say’s Phoebes

And if we’re lucky, we may even spot Fernando, the local Chilean Flamingo.

Every outing is different, and part of the adventure is discovering what the day brings.

A Shared Birding Experience

This outing is designed to make birding more accessible across our multicultural community. The trip will be conducted in English and Mandarin, with Cantonese support from select guides. No previous birding experience is required

Come learn, explore, and enjoy the birds of Coyote Hills with fellow nature enthusiasts.

Trail & Conditions

We’ll walk primarily on paved and gravel trails, with some hills along the route.

The outing is suitable for beginners and casual outdoor explorers, but participants should be comfortable walking for approximately three hours.

Please note: There is little to no shade along the route. Bring:

    • Sunscreen
    • A hat
    • Comfortable walking shoes
    • Water
    • Binoculars, if you have them

Bathrooms are available at the parking lot and visitor center.
